About the tour: http://www.owoatour.info/ The OWOA Strokes for Hope Tour is an international exhibit that is scheduled to tour various countries and be displayed in multiple galleries over a three-year period.
The title, Strokes for Hope, refers to painting with compassion and a forward vision. It suggests that the works in the Tour reflect, on some level, that the artist is thinking about issues such as human trafficking, world peace, hunger and poverty, abuse, and other issues that require positive social change. It is hoped that the Tour art will create viewer awareness and stimulate public thought and action in regards to these types of issues.

About OWOA: One World One Art is an international arts organization based in NYC. It's mission is to foster creativity and promote global consciousness by bringing artists together and empowering them to make a positive impact; be it within their homes, their communities, or in the world at large. OWOA (as it's called for short) provides a platform for artists of all mediums to come together , share information, exchange ideas, forge collaborations and participate in community projects. Additionally, OWOA aims to organize special events, film and music festivals, art exhibits and fundraisers that encourage volunteerism, as well as sponsor specific projects conceived by its members. The Goodwill Tour is the first of such collaborations.

OWOA was founded in 2009 by Kristen Beil and Motrya Tomycz. Earlier this year, Tia Mapes joined as the Program and Special Events coordinator. We are currently in the production of three web series with writer Mark Lowenstern and filmmakers Roxy Toporowych and Jerry Kern.

Hey All. Our good friend Jenn Boehm just sent us this... if any of you can show up and give your support that would be awesome.

Friends and family near and far -

As most of you know I've been working at Looking Glass Theatre in NYC for more than four years. It is a special place which strives to strengthen the voice of women in theatre and a community of dedicated artists very near and dear to my heart.

Sadly, due to complications with our venue, we have had to postpone all performances and events until further notice. It's with great difficulty and an incredibly heavy heart that we share this news with you. Words really can't express how we feel.

BUT we want our shows to go on and truly believe they will! We are holding a benefit TONIGHT (Tues, 11/10) to raise funds to save our theatre and the amazing work that is presented by our company in our space. The event will be at our favorite neighborhood establishment, GOSSIP @ 733 Ninth Ave (49th/50th) from 6-10pm. It's only FIVE BUCKS! This includes light fare and some fantastic entertainment; we have great raffle items and there will DRINK SPECIALS ALL NIGHT LONG!

If you can't make it, we invite you to contribute anything you can - even $1 - online at: https://www.ovationtix.com/trs/store/881/donate

OR SPREAD THE WORD, direct people to our web site: http://lookingglasstheatrenyc.com/ or to our Facebook event: http://www.facebook.com/event.php?eid=174585357580&ref=ts

Times are hard these days, especially for non-profits and the arts... if you can help in anyway, please let us know, contribute online or just show up tonight!

Much love from the Looking Glass - and me!

~Jenn
