one world one art

inspire creativity. celebrate diversity. empower artists. give back.

mission statement

Our goal in forming one world one art was to bring together artists from all corners of the world and enable them to get to know one another, form friendships, collaborate and gain insights that would perhaps not otherwise be possible. Additionally, we aimed to empower these artists, both in realizing their individual dreams, and in seeing their potential to make a real and meaningful difference in this world.

Since our inception, we have welcomed over 400 members to owoa; artists from North America, South America, Europe, Australia and Africa; representing various mediums including paint, sculpture, music, writing, filmmaking and photography. We provide a common platform for them to come together, get information, exchange ideas, forge collaborations and participate in humanitarian projects. The first such project, conceived by our members, is the “Strokes For Hope”: International Goodwill Tour, a traveling art tour to raise funds for Doctors Without Borders.

Our focus for the coming year is to establish OWOA as a functioning non-profit, with the funding to enable us to dedicate ourselves fully to the organization (as we currently do this in our free time, out of our own pocket). We will continue building our community through grassroots efforts and whatever means are available to us. We will also be integrating volunteerism into our site and organizing outreach programs in our member communities. Examples include: musical performances at elderly living facilities, free art classes at shelters and orphanages, and mentor programs for underprivileged children. Additionally, we will continue to organize special events such as art exhibits, film festivals and music concerts, as well as sponsor projects organized by our members that best address the needs of their communities. We hope to eventually host an annual festival of arts and music, with proceeds going to a different world charity each year. Our ultimate, long term goal is to establish OWOA internationally, with participating chapters in all parts of the world.

Art is a celebration of the human spirit and a reflection of the world in which we live. It has the power to transcend differences, infuse hope and foster understanding. As the world continues to grow more complex, the importance of art as a tool for promoting social consciousness and goodwill cannot be underestimated. We hope to give each artist out there a voice, as well as the tools they need to make a change for the better.
