Alice Godwin commented on ola rondiak's group 'artists who are mothers'
Didn't realise this group had come into being. Its been a busy few weeks!! I have two boys 9 & 7 who provide lots of diversions and take me on many unusual journeys. I'm a writer so my space is quite contained and they are now of an…

Alice Godwin commented on one world one art's group 'NYC artists'
Well I live a long way away from NY but am happy to be join this group, Sydney is not quite as big as NYC but like all big cities having a network of like minded people always makes you feel like you are in a smaller friendly community.

For all artists living in the NYC metropolitan area. it's no secret being an artist in this city is.....challenging. everyone gets by with a little help from their friends.

"Lament" left me feeling inspired to write ... I guess that tells you how much I enjoyed your work.

Just printed out "Monsieur" and looking forward to more of your creative descriptions. I also find your stories, so far, to be "deceptive" as far as the "subject matter". They may well include vampires and gargoyles, but they reveal the essence of life as a human - the small moments that matter, the thoughts that rise and fall in our heads, the decisions we wrestle with, and the importance of the people that pass through our lives... Nice work, Alice!

Ok - I'm moving onto "Lament"...big storm coming in here at the moment, so I am printing out the story and will go home shortly and sit by the fire to read.

Also - I happened across your husband's "Way U Move" MP3 on this site and liked it enough to want to download...but, couldn't find a site that carries his music (found a French guy with the same name, tho) ... does he have a spot where I can download the song? GREAT voice...he must have more work out there somewhere!

I did finish it today and I really enjoyed your story.

Here are some of the things I liked best:
"talking to them was like speaking to angels on lithium"
"she looking like a member of a neo-pagan goddess cult"
describing a sunset as looking like a "bruise"
"a face that reminded Connor of raw quartz"
"average sociopath weirdo" (especially the "average")
"treading softly, panther steps, predatory"
the subtle build up of the sexual tension

And, not quite as strongly, but still liked very much:
"it would be beaming out on a thousand You Tubes"
"broken and repaired by a drunken surgeon"

Very Nice Piece, Alice....I want to read more by you, and will print out something else next week...any recommendations?

Cheers, Alice, you made my day more interesting!

Hi Alice- I started reading "Gargoyles on the Edge" and liked it so much (all those references to colour caught the artist in me) that I've printed it out and am looking forward to a more careful reading on my lunch break tomorrow. Nice work!
