I live in Paris, France ( since 1990) and was born in Argentina in 1960. My journey also took me to New York (1975-1978), London (1978-79) Mexico (1979 - 1986) and then back to Argentina between 1986 and 1990.
I have painted naturally since childhood , and been the disciple to several artists from whom I have learned the love of my craft. I have also followed Art studies at the United Nations International School, in New York. My artistic path had lead me to explore sculpture (stone and clay) and etching , do much ceramics and drawing, and try other artistic media.
My creative world has substantially shifted by periods, always withholding painting as a permanent form of expression.
Multicultural experience has indeed nourished my vocation. Antropology and sociopolitical research , counselling and translation (which have been professional activities), provide me with much insight and inspiration for painting.
While painting and creating I feel an impulse-force to try to surpass 'the limitation of matter and form ', to look into an ever changing inner horizon, and to the feel my soul trying to express 'some quality ' related to infinity.
An act of freedom and creation... painting is an identity to me as well as an act of knowledge. While creating I can perceive and feel ' the world' and myself as one.
In the works...
Remarks by Alain Rouvrais:
"Cecilia's paintings reveal relations stories, interconnections, networks and rhizome identities intermingling, relating to one another and dansing together.
Different universes get to know each other and live together with no rejections. Nothing is still; in her paintings life is present with its mouvements, shifts and recompositions; in her case, one can indeed refer to an artistry inspired by the caleidoscope of life (...)
"The presence of the mineral, vegetal, cell and universal realms illuminates Cecilia's paintings. Besides, in them we can observe: sense of detail and of proportion, geometrical forms and the open expression of living forces and their unexpected effects giving meaning each piece of art. (...)
From abstract paintings to the portraits gallery, the beholder feels the flame engraved onto the linen, the decision to look over and beyond the miroir , the breath for the search of multiples faces and forms. At the heart of the labyrinth one can also find the way out, as also those seeds that honnor the florescence of life (...)" (Alain Rouvrais, 2008)
if you could collaborate with/meet any artist, past or present, who would it be?
