First off, let me apologize for not responding sooner - I have not been back here for a few months and only now am posting another painting. The fact that you were able to see my influences is an honor to me - that you have seen ANY of my paintings. Yes, I am definately a fan of the show, though I must admit that I didn't actually pick up a brush until I'd seen a few Bob Ross shows. Bob Ross shows people how to paint who never have, and your show shows people how to be artists. Since I've begun painting, I've realized that there are really four main elements - shape, color, contrast, and composition. Mr. Dunlop assumes (and rightfully so) his viewers know the first three, and focuses on the last. My degree is in history and I think that aspect particularly grabbed my attention to your show. I've been such as student of PBS painting shows lately that I even considered teaching a layman's class at the local college. I believe I've been able to integrate the important aspects of painting, considering I've never taken a painting class and hadn't picked up a brush until a year ago, which provides (I hope) a unique perspective on the subject.
Wow - this comment morphed into a monster - anyway, thank you again for your work, and your kind words.
