Congrats, Mym! That's awesome. And I'm sure Peggy appreciates it, too.

That Dick Brown looks an awful lot like that Feldman character. Just saying.

On Phyl Dynan's comment: Hemmingway said much the same thing. He said, write for a while, and only stop when you know exactly where you're going next. Then pick up the next day from there. It's great advice!

All right. I think what's interesting is the different ways in which people work. Right now, for example, I'm discovering about myself that it helps me to have a number of projects going on at once. I haven't had "writer's…

How it all began...
I went to school for engineering, but couldn't stop performing. I was at a liberal arts school, so I was always in a play, on the improv team, what have you. Eventually, I burned out and quit engineering. I had always laughed at the idea of pursuing acting as a career because "you can't make money that way!"
I went to Ireland to study for a month and told my teacher, "At the end of this month, I want you to tell me if you think I have what it takes to be a successful actor."
The end of the month came and I asked him the question. He looked at me and said, "Do you think you have what it takes?" Without hesitation I said, "Yes." He said, "Good, cause so do I, but that's what it takes."
In the works...
I'm working on a new screen play. I had been working on another, but I put it on hold, and I'm glad I did, because this current project is keeping me inspired and almost writing itself. Very exciting.
Down the road...
I just set up a goal to make a certain about of money strictly from acting this year, and I broke it down month by month as to what I need to accomplish. I'm confident that when I reach this goal my career will take off....and it's about damn time.
About me in general...
I like long walks on the beach at night under a full moon with the waves lapping at my feet. Alone.
if you could collaborate with/meet any artist, past or present, who would it be?
Al Pacino or Philip Seymour Hoffman. Mostly, I would just drool at their feet and lap up whatever genius I could...and then collaborate.

A Shout out to a Great Jazz Duo: Paul Orbell and Craig Akin, NYC

I’m sitting at Brick Café in Astoria, three blocks from my apartment.

I decided to take the entire day off. No commitments, no pushing myself to move forward, to be “productive,” just an insistence on taking a step back from the constant rush and clamber of New York. It was hard at first, almost as difficult as forcing myself to write or look for the next audition. Perhaps that’s the trap of NYC: either you’re getting ahead and neglecting the joy of life, or you’re enjoying life and… Continue

My Stray Cat

I have been repeatedly visited by a stray cat. I step out onto my stoop to smoke and the cat appears, looking at me with hungry eyes. The first couple of times this happened, I ignored it. Since every cigarette brings me closer to death, I’d prefer to enjoy each one without any feelings of guilt about a cat I don’t know.

Then the cat started whining. This “whining” is not the random cat sounds you here late at night coming from an alley, though I suppose that might be worse and would… Continue

Mary, meet Jesus

It’s 8pm at my survival job and 5 of the 7 bus boys get “cut.” This is a rare event. The five who leave are all Mexicans. Of the two that stay, one is Chilean and the other is new. It turns out that Mexico is playing “football” for a spot in the World Cup. It’s the most important game of the year.

At 10pm, KJ, the upstairs bartender, gets a call from downstairs. Jesus, one of the bus boys, has called the restaurant and wants to speak to KJ. (Yes, Jesus. The poor guy was born on Christmas,… Continue
