How it all began...
Left my commercial interior design work of 16 years in Salt Lake, then moved to SW Colorado and started painting. I painted in High School. Sold my first painting when I was 18. It was the fourth oil painting I had ever done. I was 41 when I joined the Ouray cooperative gallery in Ouray, Colorado. I started selling works. I went on to other galleries as you can read about on my web site.
In the works...
I have a web-site published and a show in September with the Amsterdam Whitney International Gallery of Fine Art in Chelsea New York.
I am going to start a new painting today and I will not know what it will be until I spend some time with the painting. I will let you know when I know.
Down the road...
I will be providing a creative environment for any one who wishes to paint and create in their own way and form. I will use meditations, our horses, native desert plants, Great Danes, trees and the ranch atmosphere for inspiration and inner guidance. You do not need to be concerned if you feel you may not be an artist. We can fix that.
About me in general...
I live in Southwest Colorado on 30 acres with my husband Bob Martens, four Great Danes and four horses. I spend most of my time at home with the animals and my work. I am studying and practicing animal communication and therapy methods for equines and canines. I just became the president for the Western Colorado Friends of Tibet. Yes, I did trek to Mt. Everest when I was 50. My life long dream. I highly recommend that adventure. I have been on the Amazon River and stayed in the jungle in Brazil. I have only two more continents to visit. The two A's. I could not list all of the places I have traveled, but there is still so much I want to see. I love supporting animal charities and rescues. I have four highly creative children. Isha who does everything from weaving and fabric art to cake decorating and culinary masterpieces is also quite astute in business. Jeremiah is a shoemaker and creates amazing moccassins by hand. He is also a bass player and songwriter in a band in Portland, OR. He travels to Sundance every year and lights the fire for the Lakota ceremony. Justin, his twin brother, is a teacher with a Master's Degree from St. John's in Santa Fe and manages the Juan Siddi Flamenco Company for his partner Juan who is an amazing performer. Check it out in Santa Fe, NM this summer season. Justin is also accomplished on the piano. Jason who lives in Idaho with his family, raises goats, horses and an assortment of barnyard companions. He is also a percussionist. They are all very supportive of me and my work.
