Influences

The area where I lived in Borneo was once a wildlife sanctuary for orangutan and other endangered species and young me spent a lot of time roaming the rainforest,observing the wild creatures and their habitat, and sketching whenever I could snitch a few more pages of paper. If not...I stored my memory with the wonderful world of the rainforest.

How it all began...

My artistic career started rather dramatically. The-6-year-old lad was fascinated by the British military helicopters hovering near my longhouse in the rainforest, during the time of armed confrontation between Malaysia and Indonesia in 1962. I ripped a page out of his elder sister's arithmetic book and started to draw the helicopter....and I haven't stopped since.

In the works...

Most of my paintings depicts the flora and fauna of rainforest,that is my greatest interest but the natural talent that I have do diversify me to do almost any forms of painting from cartoons,carricatures,surealism,realistic to abstract.....

Down the road...

Despite winning some local drawing competitions and exibitions,I am also a part-time newspaper cartoonist.. I see a hornbill feather in each of my creation to make a point that I live in the Land of Hornbills.It floats on a gentle breeze somewhere near the lower right edge of each painting- Just Look For It!

About me in general...

I belong to the Iban tribe of Borneo,Malaysia.My profession is in the Telecommunication industry and have been working in that line for 30 years,but the colors of ART is still running in my blood.Other interests are traditional music and golf.
